AUBURN — In celebration of National Poetry Month, Central Maine Community College will host two events on Thursday, April 7.
A poetry slam workshop conducted by members of the Portland-based group Port Veritas will be held from 3:30 to 5: p.m. This team of talented poets has been sending members to the National Poetry Slam since 2008. Space for the workshop is limited so anyone wishing to attend must send an email to [email protected].
An open poetry slam will be held from 6: to 8 p.m. Members of the public are invited to participate in the open slam and read their own work or that of a favorite poet. Those who wish to come and just listen are also encouraged to attend. Light refreshments will be served.
Both events will be held in the culinary arts building on the CMCC campus at 1250 Center St., Auburn. These events are being sponsored by the student senate, music club, library and the TRiO program. More information is available at www.cmcc.edu/library/poetrypage.htm
