OXFORD — Two women were hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries after a head-on collision Wednesday afternoon at the intersection of routes 26 and 121.
Eleanor Edwards, 74, of Waterford, was traveling south on Route 26 when her 2001 Toyota sedan and a northbound 2000 Dodge driven by Mildred McDonald, 33, of South Paris, collided, police officer Alan Coffin said.
Oxford Fire Department firefighters cut the door off McDonald’s car to get her out, he said.
McDonald was sent to Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston with leg injuries, Coffin said.
Edwards sustained injuries to her leg and chest in the 5:45 p.m. accident, and was also taken to the hospital, he said.
It was not clear how serious the drivers’ injuries were, but they were not life-threatening, Coffin said Wednesday night.
The accident remains under investigation. No charges were filed, Coffin said.
