LISBON — The Lisbon Community School and Philip W. Sugg School chess teams competed in the State Scholastic Chess Tournament, kindergarten to grade six championship section on March 5 in the Student Union, University of Maine, Orono.

Competing were Noah Buiniskas, Joe Fusaro, Jonah Sautter, Kelsea Tilley (from PWS) and Adam White. The Lisbon team finished in sixth place out of 11 teams from around the state.

Jonah Sautter won the award for best score by a new competitor and received an invitation to play, free, at the individual tournament on March 19. This award was also won last year by a Lisbon student, Noah Williams. Coach Brian Hirst congratulated each team member for good play and sportsmanship. Nicole Sautter and John Fusaro provided transportation and support.
