LEWISTON — Thelma E. Gibson, 86, a resident of 20 Great Falls Plaza died Tuesday, March 29, at Central Maine Medical Center with her family by her side following a long illness.
She was born in Livermore, Feb. 13, 1925, the daughter of Merle and Emma Hodgkins.
Thelma graduated from Livermore Falls High School in 1943, and following her education, met and married the love of her life, C. Robert Gibson, whom she married on Nov. 5, 1944. Together they raised a daughter while residing most of their lives in Auburn.
She was a homemaker most of her life and was an avid crocheter, great cook, loved gardening, as well as knitting many afghans throughout the years for family, friends, and donating her great work to church raffles.
Survivors include her husband of 66 years, C. Robert Gibson of Auburn; one daughter, Joyce Estes and her husband, Kenneth, of Auburn; one brother, William Hodgkins of Livermore; two grandchildren, Tanya Estes and Robert Estes; as well as four great-grandchildren.
