POLAND — Stephen Robinson was elected Friday to a three-year term on the Board of Selectmen in a tight, three-way contest.
Robinson got 120 votes, outpacing Norman Davis with 114 votes and Arthur Dunlap with 103.
In the contest for two seats on the Regional School Unit 16 School Committee, voters elected Edward Rabasco Jr., with 201 votes and Joseph Parent, with 184. The remaining two candidates, George Sanborn and Ervin Walker III, received 122 and 65 votes, respectively.
Running uncontested for seats on the Ricker Library Board of Trustees, Nancy Norton and Catherine Tetenman were elected to three-year terms and Sara Willett was elected to a two-year term.
While there were no names on the ballot for two seats on the town Budget Committee, Timothy Paul Curran, who announced a few days ago that he sought support as a write-in candidate, received 27 votes. Glenn Peterson got 7 votes as an unannounced write-in. Selectmen will offer the positions to Curran and Peterson.
Town Clerk Judith Akers reported that 350 ballots were cast, with about 200 voters making their way to the polls despite the heavy, wet snow.
