SABATTUS — Charles E. “Chuck” Thompson Jr., 52, of Sabattus, died on Sunday, March 27, surrounded by loved ones.

He was born in Lewiston, Feb. 13, 1959, the son of the late Beatrice G. Thompson and Charles E. Thompson Sr. He was a longtime resident of Sabattus and attended Monmouth Academy.

He was employed at Bath Iron Works for 26 years. Chuck was a huge NASCAR fan and raced for many years at Oxford Plains Speedway. He enjoyed working on cars, riding motorcycles and snowmobiles, dancing and laughing with friends.

He is survived by girlfriend, Deb Doynton of South Portland; sister, Judy Thompson of Auburn; three sons; nine grandchildren; aunts; uncles; cousins; and many friends. A celebration of life gathering for friends to be announced.
