BETHEL — The Bethel Historical Society will sponsor a summer high school history internship again in 2011. Applicants should be age 14 to 18, possess an interest in learning about local and regional history and be motivated, honest and reliable.
A group of local educators will review all applications, select candidates to be interviewed and make recommendations to the society’s executive director.
The society’s internships are designed to provide historical education experiences for qualified students at Telstar Regional High School and Gould Academy in grades nine to 12.
During July and August, interns participate in a variety of activities, including house museum interpretation, historical walking tours, exhibit research and preparation, special event and programming development and collections management. The opportunity includes a $1,000 stipend.
Internship applications may be picked up at the society’s main office in the Robinson House, 10 Broad St., or downloaded from www.bethelhistorical.org and should be submitted by June 1. A decision will be made by June 15 and the internship will run from June 27 to Aug. 27.
