AUBURN — Joanne E. Metivier, 57, of Jay, passed peacefully early Sunday, April 3, with her family by her side at the Hospice House.

She was born in Rumford, Oct. 19, 1953, the daughter of Adolph and Charlene (Waite) Johnson. On Oct. 5, 1974, she married her best friend since the age of 12, Maurice L. Metivier, with whom she had three children.

She had many interests and hobbies. She had a love of the outdoors, especially snowmobiling in the cold winter months. She was a wonderful cook and enjoyed baking for others. Painting ceramics and listening to her music were favorite pastimes. An excellent homemaker, she was the glue that held the family together. Her three grandchildren kept her young and kept her laughing, she couldn’t have loved them more.

She is survived by her husband, Maurice Metivier; children, Nicole Nichols and her husband, John, Kelly and Michael Metivier, all of Jay; grandchildren, Kaitlyn and Emily Nichols, and Gage Dalton; her mother, Charlene Johnson of Rumford; sisters, Gloria Cote and husband, Bill, of Fort Myers, Fla., Nancy Bizier and husband, Conrad, of Jay and Mary Brown and husband, Randy, of Rumford; and many nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased only by her father, Adolph Johnson.

Joanne lived a full and happy life, even though to her family, was just not long enough. She will be remembered as being a wonderful wife, mother, sister, daughter and friend. She will be very sadly missed by her family. May she rest in peace.
