HARRISON — Registrations for the Fun, Friends & Fitness program and six-week Red Cross swim program will be held in May.
The times are May 11 and 12 from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Harrison Town Office for taxpayers who reside year round in Harrison or own a summer home.
Recreation Director Paula Holt said Fun, Friends & Fitness will run from June 20 to Aug. 11. It is for youths ages 6 to 13 or entering grades one through seven in the fall.
The Red Cross swim program will begin Monday, June 27, and end Aug. 11. Lessons will be offered from the infant level to level 6, Monday through Friday, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Swim lessons are offered in two, three-week sessions and are 30 minutes in length. Age appropriate videos will be shown in the swim building on rainy days.
Swim lessons will not be offered during the week of July 4 due to Old Home Days celebration at the park. The recreation program will be at the Harrison School on rainy days and during Old Home Days. Weekly field trips will be offered Tuesdays. Harrison Recreation will be closed Monday, July 4, in celebration of Independence Day.
During registration all parents will receive a detailed schedule of fees and daily activities as well as information about special programs and events such as field trips, arts and crafts workshops, summer reading program, Book Club, kayak/canoe lessons, Deertrees Theatre children’s performances, nutrition workshops and the swim across the lake. Also, the British Challenger Soccer Camp is returning to the RADR Sports Complex during the week of Aug. 8 to 12, Holt said.
The Friendly Village Times Summer Recreation Newsletter and summer activity calendar will also be available with information to make the children’s summer recreational experience is a most rewarding and memorable one, Holt said.. The 2011 Harrison Recreation Community Programs Guide will also be available at the Harrison Town Office, Harrison Village Library, Northeast Bank and Harrison Elementary School.
