POLAND — Regional School Unit 16 directors agreed Monday to a budget development schedule that begins with a discussion at 6:30 p.m. Monday, April 25, at Poland Regional High School.
Copies of the proposed 2011-12 spending plan were distributed Monday. School Committee members will discuss it and make changes as they see fit.
On May 2, the committee will approve a budget to take to a public hearing for residents of Mechanic Falls, Minot and Poland. That hearing will be at 6:30 p.m. May 12, at the Poland high school. A vote will be taken on whether to send the budget to a referendum in each town May 19.
The committee also directed Superintendent Dennis Duquette to set up a meeting before April 25 with selectmen, councilors and the Budget Committee in the three towns, to acquaint them with what went into preparing the budget.
In other business, the committee approved new contracts for all RSU 16 administrators, creating unified agreements that equalize benefits, the number of work days and salaries for administrators across the three towns.
The committee also approved a 2011-12 school calendar, which is aligned with other school districts in the area.
