AUGUSTA — David B. Carver, 61, a resident of Augusta died Monday, April 4, at Maine General Medical Center following a long illness.

He was born in Lewiston, Sept. 4, 1949, the son of Elwood N. and Fleeta A. (Smith) Carver. David was the youngest of nine children. He was educated in Auburn schools and was a graduate of Edward Little High School. He then continued his education at the Augusta School of Commerce majoring in accounting.

Following his education, he began his career in Maine banking, and then moved on to begin his career with the Maine Public Utilities Commission retiring in 2001. He was also an avid outdoorsman, who enjoyed skiing, hunting and fishing.

Survivors include two brothers, W. Roger Carver of Leeds and John Carver Sr., and his wife, Laura, of Turner; six sisters, Joan Lyons and Norma Hoy, both of Auburn, Dot Hanson and her husband, Bill, of Florida, Margaret Hodge and her husband, John, of Florida, Judith Boothby and her husband, Ted, of Turner and Sandra Vye and her husband, Richard of Auburn; 12 nieces and nephews; as well as many grandnieces and grandnephews.
