PARIS — Fundraising for the Paris Public Library’s air conditioning has begun, raising almost $800 in the first week. Contributions may be made to the library in a variety of ways, including purchasing chances, buying fan placards or donating cans and bottles.
Donors may also purchase an “ice cube” on the library’s fundraising thermometer for $200. The donor may personalize a cube in honor or memory of a person, group or business. At the conclusion of the drive, the contributions to the “cube club” will be permanently displayed on a plaque in the Soule Addition entrance.
An anonymous donor has pledged up to a total of $500 to match any $100 contributions toward the ice cubes during the first week of April.
Last summer’s heat led the library’s trustees to seek an effective and efficient solution to the problem.
