DEAR SUN SPOTS: I’m a volunteer with Rebuilding Together Lewiston-Auburn and am wondering if you could help us with finding homes to work on for this year.

RTLA is a nonprofit organization supported entirely by contributions of time, labor, material and money. We are dedicated to repairing homes of those who, due to financial hardship, age and/or disability, cannot do the work themselves. Skilled and unskilled volunteers alongside able-bodied members of the recipient’s family and friends complete the repairs at no cost to the homeowner.

The work is conducted on one weekend a year. This year that weekend is April 30th.

Applications can be found at Re/Max River Cities, 195 Center St., Auburn. Please see Rachel at the front desk or call her at 783-7300. — Todd, RTLA volunteer

DEAR SUN SPOTS: I read the story about the Franco-Americans written by Emma Bouthillette of the Portland Press Herald. I have a video regarding Franco-Americans narrated by Tom Bergeron, the host of many TV shows. It was purchased through PBS of New Hampshire. I do not know if this video is still available. The station might have some copies left. It is very interesting. — No Name, Lewiston

ANSWER: If you ever decide to part with it, the Franco-American Heritage Center might be interested in it.

DEAR SUN SPOTS: On March 15 someone wrote in asking about where they could get their poems published. Barnes & Nobles online has a great way to get your books publish by doing it on their eBooks, which people buy and download. It’s called Pubit Book. — Ruth Cyr, Lewiston

ANSWER: Self-publishing is always an option, but it’s not free. If the eBooks don’t sell, the authors will be out that money, so they need to be prepared for that possibility.
