AUBURN — Roma A. Major, 44, of Lewiston passed away at The Hospice House of Androscoggin Home Care and Hospice on Tuesday, April 5.
She was born in Fort Kent, March 24, 1967, a daughter of Albert (Babe) and Linda (Dale) Desjardins. Following graduation from Fort Kent Community High School in1985, Roma attended University of Maine at Fort Kent and graduated in 1989, and received her bachelors degree in education. She moved to Lewiston in 1989.
She worked as an educator at McMahon, Martel and Montello. Most recently, she was a teacher at Lewiston High School until her illness made it no longer possible to work. She loved her career as a educator, and was often described as “a teacher through and through.”
The only thing she loved more than teaching was her family, especially her children Sarah-Beth and Blake Edward. She was a great mom, who in her spare time enjoyed reading and continuing her education acquiring her masters degree in education a few years ago.
Roma is survived by her parents, Albert (Babe) and Linda (Dale) Desjardins of Fort Kent; two children, Sarah-Beth and Blake Edward Major; one stepdaughter, Stephanie Arsenault; four sisters, Colette Desjardins of Portland, Rachel Desjardins and her husband, Roger Clavette, of Claire, N.B., Jane Koch and her husband, Wulf, of Montgomery, Ala., and Lila Bourgoin and her husband, Chad, of Williamsport, Md.; one brother, William Desjardins and his wife, Phebe, of St. Agathe; many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews; and her best friend, Lisa Tanguay.
She was predeceased by her four grandparents.
