LEWISTON — Police were releasing few details Sunday evening while investigating a one-vehicle crash on outer Lisbon Street that sent one man to the hospital with serious injuries.

Sgt. Danny LaChance of the Lewiston Police Department said that the 5:30 p.m. crash remained under investigation and that authorities were not releasing the driver’s name until his family members were notified of the crash.

The middle-aged Lewiston man was the sole occupant of the pickup truck that crashed on Lisbon Road in front of Discount Dave’s Auto World. The man had to be extricated from the heavily damaged truck, which landed on its roof. He was taken to an area hospital with serious injuries.

One man at the scene, who said he was at the Big Apple next door at the time of the crash, said that it looked as though the westbound truck veered off the road just after the Big Apple, where the car lot starts.

Pieces of the vehicle, which appeared to be a Chevy S-10, littered the grass in front of Discount Dave’s — including the rear driver’s side tire that was completely ripped off the vehicle.
