LEWISTON — A driver seriously injured in a single-vehicle accident Sunday on Lisbon Road was identified by Lewiston police Monday as Michael Ouellette, 54.
The Lewiston man was traveling west on Lisbon Road at about 5:30 p.m. Sunday when his pickup truck veered off the road near a Big Apple convenience store and rolled over. Rescuers extricated Ouellette from the vehicle. He was unconscious when police arrived, Lewiston police Sgt. Danny LaChance said.
It was difficult to tell if Ouellette was breathing when police got to the crash site Sunday night, and United Ambulance Service EMTs began CPR immediately upon arrival, a Lewiston police shift commander said.
“United did a great job and brought him back,” LaChance said. Ouellette was taken to Lewiston’s Central Maine Medical Center with internal bleeding and head injuries, he said.
Speed was a factor in the accident, LaChance said. The truck traveled 440 feet after leaving the road, striking a utility pole and then a light pole near Discount Dave’s Auto World and landing on its roof.
Police were still investigating the accident late Monday afternoon.
CMMC would not comment on Ouellette’s condition Monday night.
