DIXFIELD — The Western Foothills Regional School Unit 10 board unanimously voted Monday night to bring the four secretaries who work in the Buckfield region into the bargaining unit with those in the Rumford-Mexico and Dixfield regions.
Superintendent Tom Ward said this is another step in bringing employees in various occupations under the same salary schedule for all three regions.
In the instance of the Buckfield region secretaries, the cost will be about $4,000, he said.
Still to be negotiated are the bus drivers/custodians for all three regions, as well as administrative personnel.
The board had already placed teachers and other bargaining units on the same salary schedule.
This was a major goal of the new regional school unit when the former SADs 39 of Buckfield, 21 of Dixfield, and 43 of Rumford/Mexico, merged nearly three years ago.
The decision for the Buckfield region secretaries was made following a 15-minute closed session at the end of the regular board meeting.
