AUBURN — Theresa G. Mathieu, 86, of 250 Bates St., Lewiston, died Tuesday, April 12, at the Hospice House.
She was born in Lewiston, Dec. 15, 1924, the daughter of Arthur and Alma Croteau Moreau. Educated in local schools, she married Emilien J. Mathieu on April 23, 1949, at Saints Peter and Paul Church. Mr. Mathieu passed away on Dec. 14, 2002.
She was employed for many years in the local shoe industry and will also be remembered for working in the cafeteria of St. Peter’s School for several years. A member of the Basilica of Saints Peter and Paul, Prince of Peace Parish, she also belonged to the Ladies of St. Anne and the Holy Cross Senior Citizens and enjoyed reading and playing cards and pinochle with friends.
Survivors include a son, Lucien and wife, Marj Patrick, of Auburn; a daughter, Anita and husband, Ray Nadeau, of Wales; two sisters, Alma Caux and Rose Houle, both of Lewiston; five grandchildren, Scott and wife, Melinda Nadeau, Jeff and wife, Stacy Nadeau, Ross Nadeau and companion, Lori Jones, Ben and wife, Michelle Mathieu and Amy Mathieu and fiance, Patrick Hamlin; seven great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents and husband, she was predeceased by five brothers, Romeo, Arthur, Robert, Albert and Raymond Moreau; and two sisters, Jeanne Grandmaison and Yvonne Bouchard.
