Congratulations to Jim Sorcek and Robert Worthley, who wrote in support of Gov. Paul LePage’s tax cut for the wealthy (April 11). They must be among the richest Mainers to whom the tax cuts would go.
Or are they some of the most gullible, to believe that giving the wealthy a tax cut would create jobs for working people?
That is just plain nonsense.
Trickle-down economics is a myth. The only benefit is for the wealthy at the expense of everyone else.
It seems that the tea party, both in Maine and nationally (with Paul Ryan’s plan), want to give the wealthiest people tax cuts and cut jobs and benefits for everyone else.
In Maine, the governor and his lackey, Bruce Poliquin, plan to make the state workers and teachers pay for the tax cut for the wealthy. They say that the state of Maine is broke and can’t pay the retired grammies and grandpas what the state legally owes them by contract.
If that were true, how could they give tax cuts of the same amount to the wealthiest Mainers?
If people truly believe that jobs are created by giving the wealthiest people tax cuts, why not just eliminate all taxes for the wealthy? Cut off the poor and disabled and have the middle class pay for everything.
We can go back to the days of “Oliver Twist” and the robber barons.
