A worker from Chabot’s Construction directs a crane operator from Cote Crane & Rigging as he lowers a 35,000-pound concrete cover onto a brick water reservoir at the former Avon Mill site at the corner of Locust and Lincoln streets in Lewiston on Friday. The 14-square-foot cover will stabilize the 21-foot-deep reservoir so a new intersection can be built at the location. The plan is to pull truck traffic off Lisbon Street and onto Lincoln Street, said Jeff Beaule, project engineer for the city of Lewiston. The intersection will have turning lanes and will be more accommodating to large trucks, Beaule said.
