LEWISTON — James A. Blaisdell, 81, of Rumford, died Friday, April 15, at the Central Maine Medical Center.

He was born in Colebrook, N.H. on March 9, 1930, a son of George and Marion Marshall Blaisdell. He graduated from Stephens High School in Rumford, Class of 1948. Jim proudly served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.

Jim had owned and operated Blaisdell’s Variety Store in Peru for more than 18 years, until his retirement in 1996. Jim loved to hunt and fish and spending time at his camps in St. Francis and on Moosehead Lake in Rockwood.

He was married in Rockwood on June 20, 2005, to Anne Paterson Chouinard, of Rumford, who survives him. Other survivors include daughters, Mary Frances Blaisdell and husband, William McGray of Turner, Patricia Blaisdell of Fredericksburg, Va., and Johanne Blaisdell and husband, Jeffrey Adams of Palmyra; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; stepsons, William Chouinard and wife, Tammy of Oakland, James Chouinard and wife, Karen of Auburn and David Chouinard and wife, Lori of Turner; and many step-grandchildren.

He was predeceased by his parents; first wife, Rita Blaisdell; and brother, George M. Blaisdell.
