Eepybird session

LEWISTON — The Great Falls Forum lecture series presents Eepybird! (Fritz Grobe and Stephen Voltz) speaking on “Creativity and Obsession: Innovation Through Art & Science” from noon to 1 p.m. on Thursday, April 21, in Callahan Hall at the Lewiston Public Library, 200 Lisbon St. A question-and-answer session will follow. Eastern Star meeting

LISBON — Pioneer Chapter No. 11 Lisbon Falls, Order of the Eastern Star, will meet at 7 p.m. on Thursday, April 21, at the Ancient York Masonic Hall, Route 196, Lisbon Falls. Refreshments will follow. All members of the order are invited.

Library panel

AUBURN — Auburn Public Library will host a panel discussion called “Breaking Through: Women, Business, and Technology” at noon on Thursday, April 21.

This program is part of on ongoing workshop series called “Dream, Plan, Execute: A Roadmap to Entrepreneurial Success.” No advance registration is required. This is a free Brown Bag Lunch Program; attendees may bring a bagged lunch if they like, or order out at the Library Cafe; the library will supply drinks and dessert.

Holy Week

TURNER — Turner Center Church will hold the following Holy Week events:

Maundy Thursday service at 7 p.m. on Thursday, April 21.

Good Friday service at 7 p.m. on Friday, April 22.

Sunrise service at 6 a.m. at the gazebo across the street, followed by breakfast in Church Vestry on Sunday, April 24. Easter Service will follow in the church at 10 a.m.

Fill the Boot

AUBURN — Auburn and Lewiston firefighter unions will kick off their joint fundraising efforts for Muscular Dystrophy Saturday, April 23, at Shaw’s supermarket on Center Street. They will hold the first 2011 Fill the Boot event from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the store.

Union members hope to break their 2010 fundraising level of $16,500; the total raised by firefighters in Maine last year was $97,500.

Other Fill the Boot events will be held July 16 at L/A Harley in Lewiston, Aug. 19 through 21 at the Great Falls Balloon Festival, and Sept. 9 at the intersection of Union and Turner streets.

Free Easter dinner

LEWISTON — Hope Haven Gospel Mission will provide a free Easter dinner to those in need from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Sunday, April 24, at 209 Lincoln St. The meal is available to shut-ins as well. Call 783-6086 for delivery.

Lewiston Seniors

LEWISTON — Lewiston Senior Citizens will hold their next monthly meeting on Monday, May 2, at the Multi-Purpose Center.

At 12:30 p.m. a spaghetti lunch including one meatball, salad, garlic bread, beverage and dessert will be available to members for a donation of $3 each. Lunch must be reserved by April 25. Tickets may be purchased in the LSC office.

A meeting will be held at 1:15 and will include honoring Mother and Father of the Year. Bingo will follow the meeting. Call the LSC Office at 784-2926, ext. 207, for reservations.

Cribbage results

LEWISTON — The Lewiston Senior Citizens Cribbage League winners at the Multi-Purpose Center on April 14 were as follows.

Bridge results

LEWISTON — The Lewiston-Auburn Duplicate Bridge Club met on April 12 at the Multi-Purpose Center. Winners in Flight A were: 1st: Paul Sherman and Paul Mitnik; 2nd: Luke Merry and Les Buzzell; 3rd: Mary Trafton and Kathleen Burden; 4th: Jan Arey and Linda Leotsakos. Flight B winners were, 1st: Mary Trafton and Kathleen Burden; 2nd: Claire Lyons and Helen Little. Winners in Flight C were Mary Trafton and Kathleen Burden. Another game will be played at 9 a.m. on Tuesday, April 19, at the center.

The club also met on April 13 at Schooner Estates in Auburn. Winners were, 1st: Luke Merry and Paul Barber; 2nd: David Lock and Patricia Garcia; 3rd: Jeanine Kivus and Rosemarie Goodwin.
