NORWAY — Experienced dancers and those just learning how to contra dance had so much fun at the Mellie Dunham Shoe and String Festival in February that four dances this year have been scheduled at the Norway Grange. The Western Foothills Land Trust is organizing these dances in collaboration with Norway Downtown, the Norway Grange and the Heywood Club.

The dances are scheduled for the last Saturdays of the four months in 2011 that have five Saturdays: April 30, July 30, October 29 and December 31, providing the series’ name: 5th Saturdays Norway. Dances will start at 7 p.m. The series will cost $32 prepaid or $10 each at the door. Registration is available online at www.wfltmaine.org; forms are also available at the Norway Library and via the land trust, 739-2124.

Pam Weeks and Bill Olson and other artists will provide music and calling for the dances. The trust is also welcoming Bridgton dancers, at the Bridgton area dance series is temporarily pausing.

Norway’s Heywood Club will be serving public suppers in the first floor of the grange hall from 5-7 p.m. each of the four Saturdays. Cost for those suppers will be $3 for kids and $7 adults; proceeds from the suppers will benefit the club.
