MEXICO — Easter weekend saw a resurgence in domestic violence and vandalism as the Police Department handled more than 25 calls.

“You can tell spring is here. The calls and arrests are up,” Sgt. Roy Hodsdon said. “My officers called me all weekend because of the number of calls.”

Among the recent domestic violence arrests were:

* Jeremy Belskis, 24, of Roxbury Road, Mexico, who was also charged with violation of a protection from abuse order, violation of bail, and domestic terrorizing, at 9:59 p.m. April 23 on the Roxbury Road. He was taken to Oxford County jail.

* Casey Campbell, 28, of Newbern, S.C., who was also charged with violation of a protection from abuse order and violation of bail conditions, at 12:01 a.m. April 26 at Sun Valley Circle. He was taken to Oxford County jail where he remains. He is scheduled to appear in Rumford District Court on July 5.

* Robert LeDuc, 43, at 11:31 a.m. April 22 on Highland terrace. He remains in Oxford County jail in lieu of bail. His court date is June 7.

Vandalism

A group of 15 to 20 youths were reported to be spray painting street signs and stealing real estate ‘for sale’ signs at 12:43 a.m. April 22. The report was from a Granite Street resident.

The same group of individuals are believed to have been involved in harassment of an Osgood Avenue resident at 6:11 p.m. April 21, Hodsdon said. Also, the parked vehicle of a Roxbury road resident was egged at 11:44 p.m., April 21, which Hodsdon also believes was carried out by the same group.

A Backkingdom Road resident reported that his rock wall was damaged at 4:09 p.m. April 22. Damage was estimated at $500.

A Sun Valley Circle resident reported at 6:10 p.m. April 23 that her vehicle was keyed, causing an estimated $350 damage.

Warrant arrest

Russell Waugh, 27, of Orchard Street, Mexico, was arrested on a warrant issued by the Franklin County Sheriff’s Department for negotiating a worthless instrument at 5:06 p.m. April 21. He was released from the Police Department on $100 cash bail and is scheduled to appear in Franklin County District Court on May 19.

Accident

Vehicles driven by Russell J. Waugh, 27, Orchard Street, Mexico, and Peter J. Williams, 41, of Beedy Brook Lane, Dixfield, collided at 5 p.m. April 21 on Swett Avenue. Waugh’s 2006 Ford pickup and Williams’ 2003 Dodge each sustained $5,000 damage.
