FARMINGTON — Herschall B. Harnden, 97, of Farmington, formerly of Phillips, died early Sunday morning, April 24, at the Sandy River Center for Care in Farmington, where he had been a patient for five years.

He was born on Jan. 13, 1914 in Phillips, a son of John and Ethel (Wright) Harnden. He attended local schools and went on to serve in the U.S. Army during WWII.

Herschall retired from Forster Mfg. in Wilton, where he had worked for many years. Herschall enjoyed collecting coins, especially the items that his daughter sent him over the years.

He is survived by his daughter, Theresa Ella Peters of Davenport, Iowa; and a son, Herschall Harnden, Jr. of San Fransisco, Calif.

He was predeceased by a sister, Margaret Wilson and a brother.
