FARMINGTON — The Auxiliary at Franklin Memorial Hospital is hosting a Books Are Fun sale in the Bass Room of the hospital. The sale started Monday and continues Tuesday from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.  It is open to the public.

A variety of  new books, small gifts, music and toys are on display. Different items will be added Tuesday. Representatives from a division of the Books Are Fun company in southern Maine travel around the state providing similar sales, Auxiliary President Shannon Smith said as she and Nancy Chase manned a table where customers received one chance at a gift basket for every item they bought.

The Auxiliary sponsors two of these sales a year, one in the spring and one just before Thanksgiving. Both receive a great response and make a good fundraiser for the Auxiliary, she said.

Two local authors, Nancy Prince of Wilton and Shirley Hanley of Randolph, displayed their first books, signing copies for customers. Prince’s “Libby’s Loons” and Hanley’s “Horse Memories of Luck Ahead” are works of children’s fiction based on true stories, Prince said.
