Sodality meeting

LEWISTON — Rosary Sodality of Prince of Peace Parish will hold its meeting at 6 p.m. Tuesday, May 3, at the Holy Cross Seniors Hall, for the recitation of the rosary.

There will be installation of new members and then a short business meeting followed by a “penny sale.”

Excelsior Grange

POLAND — Excelsior Grange will have an open house Saturday, May 7, starting with a luncheon at 6 p.m. at the Grange Hall on Harris Hill Road.

Following the luncheon, Walter Boomsma from the Maine State Grange will speak briefly about the value of Grange membership. The Winsome Souls Quartet will then perform to complete the night’s program.

Texas Hold ’em

WINTHROP — The Winthrop Area Chamber of Commerce will host a Texas Hold ’em Tournament at 2 p.m. Sunday, May 8, at the American Legion Post #40, 117 Bowdoin St. The tournament is open to the public, including members and nonmembers of both the Winthrop Area Chamber of Commerce and the American Legion.

The cost to play in the tournament is $55 ($5 for state licensing and $50 for the “pot”).

Preregistration is required. Players must register by calling the chamber at 377-8020 and leaving their name, address and phone number.

The doors will open at noon; participants should plan to arrive by 1:30 p.m. There will be a cash bar. Smoking will be prohibited during the event.

LEWISTON — The Lewiston Senior Citizens Cribbage League winners at the Multi-Purpose Center on April 28 were as follows.

This concludes league play until Thursday, Sept. 1. Nonleague play will continue throughout the summer, every Thursday at 9 a.m. at the Multi-Purpose Center.

Yoga workshop

AUBURN — The Auburn-Lewiston YMCA is offering a yoga workshop for runners/walkers from 5:45 to 7:30 p.m. Monday, May 9. Registration is currently ongoing and is limited to 25 participants.

This workshop is designed to help correct the imbalances that can be exacerbated by running/walking. We will work on creating suppleness of muscles and an increased range of motion within the joints. This is for runners/walkers of all levels who want to increase their flexibility, core strength and balance. No prior yoga experience is needed.
