LEWISTON — La Rencontre will meet at 11:30 a.m. Friday, May 6, at the Franco-American Heritage Center, 46 Cedar St.

The meal will include beef bourguignon, rice pilaf, spring salad, dessert and beverage. The cost of the meal is $7 per person.

After the meal, the program will include a presentation by Dr. Jeffrey Bush and a musical event with Louis Grassi. Patrons are encouraged to speak only French during the meal in the newly-renovated Heritage Hall followed by the presentation and entertainment in the Performance Hall.

Bush is a fellowship-trained orthopaedic surgeon who joined Central Maine Orthopaedics in 2006. His practice focuses on primary and revision hip and knee replacement as well as hip and knee arthroscopy.

Singer-songwriter and a born-and-bred Mainer, Louis Grassi has been penning his own songs since he was 16 years old.  His sound could be described as folk-laden pop with an intriguing hint of alt-rock.  His live performances are “stripped down and intimate,” as he sings his intensely honest lyrics with an endearing acoustic guitar accompaniment. Grassi has released four EP’s, two singles, and one full-length album. Very inspired by the French culture and language, Grassi wrote and recorded his first French-language release, “T’es si belle,” in February. It is available for purchase on ITunes.

Everyone is invited to attend La Rencontre and reservations can be made by calling Claudette Violette at 786-6936 or the center at 783-1585.
