GREENE — New Relm, a new, country-rock and bluegrass trio, wil perform Friday, May 13, at Araxine Wilkins Sawyer Memorial.

Making up the band are Elise Sproul, vocals, guitar, banjo, dobro, fiddle and bass; Harold Olmstead III, vocals, guitar, fiddle and harmonica; and Rod Moore, bass, guitar and vocals.

Sproul and Olmstead received many awards from the Down East Country Music Association, including 2009 and 2010 New Country Duo of the Year, 2009 Bluegrass Duo of the Year and 2009 Horizon Award.

Moore joined New Relm in 2010.

New Relm’s high-energy shows have been described as “toe-tapping with strong vocals and tight two- and three-part harmonies.”

In 2009, Sproul and Olmstead released a CD titled “New Relm,” which was recently revised to include Moore’s bass playing on most of the songs to give a more current representation of New Relm’s sound.

Prior to New Relm, Sproul performed in country-rock and bluegrass bands such as The Rare Birds, Chairback Gap and Sweet Grass. Olmstead performed in western states with the band Heartline. Moore performed with groups such as The Allagash Band and Shanty Dan.

The performance will be at 2 and 7 p.m. Doors will open one hour before. Admission is free. For more information, call 946-5311 or visit sawyer-foundation.com.
