The Public Theatre is staging “Beau Jest,” a comedy revolving around Sarah, whose parents want her to marry a nice Jewish boy. She wants to please her parents, but is in love with a Protestant man. To end her parents’ well-intentioned meddling, Sarah hires an actor to play the boyfriend of her mother’s dreams. Her parents fall in love with her “new beau,” but can she resist doing the same? Performances are at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, May 12; 7:30 p.m. Friday, May 6 and 13; 8 p.m. Saturday, May 7 and 14; and 2 p.m. Sunday, May 8 and 15. There will also be a 2 p.m. show on Saturday, May 14.
