LEWISTON — Irene F. Thibodeau, 78, of Middle Avenue, Mexico, died unexpectedly on Monday, May 2, at Central Maine Medical Center.

She was born in Mexico, Sept. 24, 1932, a daughter of Philip and Eva (Moelleur) Thibodeau. Irene was educated in Mexico schools and was a graduate of Mexico High School.

She was employed with Diamond National and later at Boise Cascade in the lab, where she picked up samples. Irene was a communicant of Parish of the Holy Savior. She enjoyed working with leather, doing crosswords, reading, taking in stray animals and most of all helping others.

Surviving are a niece, Denise Smithburger and husband, David, of North Canton, Ohio; and three nephews, David E. Thibodeau and wife, Dottie, of Candia, N.H., Vincent J. Thibodeau and wife, Blanche, of Fort Royal, Va., and Philip C. Thibodeau and wife, Jennifer, of Winchester, Va.

She was predeceased by her parents; a sister, Theresa; and a brother, Wilfred.
