Supper canceled

FARMINGTON — A supper to benefit the Darlene Rowe Memorial Gazebo at LEAP’s Oliver House, scheduled for Friday, May 13, has been canceled.

Community breakfast

RANGELEY — The next community breakfast will be from 7 to 9 a.m. Wednesday, May 18, at Farm House Inn. All are invited. Farm House Inn is famous for its buffet breakfasts.

Flea market space

JAY — The Knights of Columbus is offering space for venders at their outdoor flea market at 148 Main St. (Route 4). The flea market takes place every Saturday, weather permitting, from June 4 through Aug. 27. The cost is 10 per 10-foot table. For more information, call Bob at 897-7108.

Shelters canopies are permitted as long as they are free standing. Set up time is from 7 to 8 a.m., selling from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. No food vendors.

NHS induction

JAY — The Jay chapter of the National Honor Society will hold its induction ceremony at the Jay High School cafeteria at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, May 19.

Astronomy fun

RANGELEY — The Wilhelm Reich Museum will host “Fun with Astronomy” from 8 to 9:30 p.m. Friday, May 20, at its conference center on Dodge Pond Road. Using a new 8SE NexStar Computerized Telescope, participants will view the planet Saturn, learn about the spring constellations and view double stars with binoculars. Participants are urged to dress warmly and bring their own binoculars and lawn chairs if they wish, as the museum has a limited supply.

The telescope was funded by grants from The Maine Community Foundation and The Norcross Wildlife Foundation. “Fun with Astronomy” has been created for all ages as part of the museum’s Natural Science Program and is free of charge.

Cape Cod Hill

FARMINGTON — “What are those strange and mysterious mounds on Cape Cod Hill anyway?” will be the theme of a program on Saturday, May 21, at the Farmington Grange in West Farmington.

Patti Millette, earth science teacher at Mount Blue High School, and some of her students will attempt to weave the story of how they unraveled clues about these unusual features in the woods and field on Cape Cod Hill. Their findings will open a window into the far-distant history of the area. Come and hear this strange and unusual tale of flood, cold and wind action that shaped the landscape around New Sharon.

The program, which is free and open to the public, will begin shortly after 7:30 p.m. The hall is located next to the West Farmington Post Office. Light refreshments will be served after the program. FMI call 778-6968.

Rabies clinic

SALEM — The Salem Volunteer Fire Association will hold a rabies vaccine clinic from 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday, May 21, at the Salem Fire Dept. Cost is $9 per animal.

Perennial sale

LIVERMORE — The Livermore Public Library will hold its 5th annual perennial plant sale from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, May 21, at the Livermore Community Building, 31 Church St. Rain or shine.

A nice selection of very reasonably priced perennials, including hostas, will be for sale with all proceeds to benefit the Livermore Public Library.

Rummage sale

STRONG — The annual spring rummage sale will be held from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, May 21, at the Strong United Methodist Parish House.

There will be a bake sale, candy sale, white elephant table, toys, books, puzzles, lots of rummage and a luncheon from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Public supper

WILTON — The Masonic Bodies of Farmington and Wilton will host a public supper, to benefit the building fund, from 5 to 6:30 p.m. Saturday, May 21, at the Harland M. Harnden Masonic Building, 70 Bryant Road, East Wilton. The menu will consist of roast turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes, gravy, vegetables, cranberry sauce, dinner rolls, assorted homemade pies and beverages. The cost is $8 for adults and $5 for children under 12.
