A narrow wooden block three stories high at 176 Lincoln St., Lewiston, practically collapsed, broke away from the ell and toppled over into the cross canal at about 10 a.m. yesterday. What has been billed as an old-fashioned circus parade is scheduled to get under way at 4:45 p.m. today from Lewiston City Park and go through the business section of Lewiston and Auburn to The Fantastic Fair parking lot in Auburn.

The Shrine Circus takes place on Friday and Saturday afternoons and evenings at the Lewiston Memorial Armory.

Many of the circus performers and animals were already in Lewiston last night, but three elephants were stranded for a time at Walcott, Vt. A spokesman said the animals would arrive in time to participate in today’s parade.
