AUBURN — Joseph A. “Val” Tardif, 82, of 40 Old Greene Road, Greene, died Tuesday, May 17, at the Hospice House of Androscoggin Home Care & Hospice.
He was born in Lewiston, March 11, 1929, the son of Leonidas and Aldenard Vallee Tardif. He was educated in Lewiston schools before entering the Navy in 1946. He married Arlene Jenkins in 1956, and was employed for many years at Twin City Cleaners, and then retired from Country Kitchen. He enjoyed ice fishing and was an avid Red Sox fan.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Arlene Tardif of Greene; a son, Robert and wife, Deanna; three grandchildren, Justin, Kristen and Dylan; four sisters, Lucille Dubil, Theresa Cloutier, Bernadette Thibeault and Rachel Cyr; a brother, Gene Tardif; and many nieces and nephews who all loved Uncle Val.
He was predeceased by his parents; six half sisters; and two half brothers.
