ORONO — Dr. Habib Dagher, founding director for Advanced Engineering Wood Composites at the University of Maine in Orono, bestowed upon Alex J. Duguay “The Director’s Award” for his outstanding achievement during his studies and completion of work at the AEWC. Alex has been a member of the center’s team for several years, most recently as a graduate student. Alex has been a dedicated and innovative member of the center’s nanocomposites research team and has made valuable contributions to both the research and to the set-up of the new nanocomposites laboratory.
Alex accepted his Masters of Civil Engineering Degree on May 7 at the University of Maine in Orono. He then gave a presentation of his thesis based nanocomposites project in Long Beach, Calif.
Alex will be working in engineering with General Dynamics in Groton, Conn. He is the son of Mark and Cindy Duguay of Turner.
