GILEAD — Drivers traveling Route 2 in Gilead should expect delays starting Monday, May 23, due to a major road reconstruction project extending nearly four miles.
The project, which should be completed in early July, includes rebuilding and realigning a section of Route 2 that begins .25 miles west of the Wild River Bridge and travels approximately 3.95 miles easterly, Mark Latti, Maine Department of Transportation spokesman, said Wednesday in a report.
“During the day, motorists may experience minor traffic delays and possible lane closures into the month of July,” Latti said.
Much of the work on this reconstruction project has been completed over the past two construction seasons, but there is some remaining pavement work to be completed along with some guardrail installation and landscaping, he said.
The project contractor is K&K Excavation of Turner. Latti said they expect to finish the project by July 8.
