Michael Weber, left, Holland Michaud and Nicholas Bourget play baroque-style classical music for the hundreds of walkers that passed by during the Hospice House 5K Race & Remembrance Walk in Auburn on Sunday. “Well over 300” participated during the third annual event, Teri Blaschke of the Androscoggin Home Care and Hospice said. Proceeds support the KMW Fund of AHCH, which is dedicated to providing care for patients at the Hospice House in Auburn who do not have health insurance. The amount raised was not available on Sunday, but Blaschke expects it will be more than the $12,000 raised during the 2010 walk/run. Weber, Michaud and Bourget are members of the Edward Little High School string orchestra.
Kelly Frahn of Auburn holds her 10-year-old son, Spencer, as they remember Frahn’s father and Spencer’s grandfather during the Hospice House 5K Race & Remembrance Walk at Central Maine Community College in Auburn on Sunday. Robert Martin of Lewiston died on Dec. 14 at the age of 68. He spent his final two weeks at the Hospice House in Auburn after being diagnosed with cancer in October. “It (Hospice House) was the best place he could possibly be,” Connie Martin, Robert’s wife of 43 years, said. “I did not want him anywhere else. They were fantastic.”
