BUCKFIELD — Paul E. Grant Sr. lost his battle with cancer on May 20, while surrounded by his loving wife and family.

Paul was born on Jan. 19, 1950, in Belfast, to Harriett Grant Barker and Paul Edward Grant. He graduated from Edward Little High School in 1969, then enlisted in the U.S. Navy. In May, 1970, he returned on leave to marry his high school sweetheart, Janice Chabot. This proud veteran and his bride lived in Mississippi until he completed his enlistment, then returned to settle in Buckfield, where they raised their family.

While tending his family, Paul worked for 31 years as a mechanic at Auburn Public Works. Paul was an avid fisherman, hunter, and outdoorsman. He was particularly fond of gardening, outdoor cooking, and frequent trips with friends to the Jackman area.

Paul is survived by his greatest pride, his family, including his wife, Janice; son, Paul Jr. and his wife, Christie; daughters, Traci and her husband, Travis Leavitt, Robin and her husband, Dennis McLellan, Sabrina and her husband, Vinnie May; grandchildren, Taylor and Colby Leavitt and Oliver, Jordan, Solomon and Levi Grant; as well as his faithful dog, Gunner. Paul is also survived by many more family and friends who will always remember his quick wit and laughter.
