SOUTH PARIS — The American Legion Foster Carroll Post 72 and Auxiliary of South Paris will attend the Memorial Day church service at 10 a.m. at Christ Episcopal Church, 35 Paris St., in Norway.

The Memorial Day parade in South Paris will take place Monday, May 30. Set up will be at 10 a.m. on Western Avenue in front of the courthouse. The parade steps off at 10:30 a.m. The middle school band will participate. Other marching units are invited to attend. The Grand Marshall is James Taylor. The speaker will be Rep. Terry Hayes.

The ceremony will be at Riverside Cemetery. A wreath will be placed at the monument by Dennis Gray. The master of ceremonies is Gil Turner. The invocation and benediction will be given by Rev. Ann Stanley from Christ Episcopal Church in Norway. The General Orders will be read by Gil Turner.

The Gettysburg address will be read by Art Hill. The reading of “In Flanders’ Field” will be read by Boys State representative Brian Lynch. America’s answer to “In Flanders’ Field” will be read by Girls State representative Ashley West. The president of the Auxiliary, Lillian Herrick, will do the Memorial to Sailors of all wars.

Following the service, the parade re-forms and marches back to the Legion Hall. Refreshments will be served at the hall by the Auxiliary.
