DEAR SUN SPOTS: Your column is a valuable resource for area residents in need of answers to a variety of topics. Thank you for providing us with this information.

St. Martin de Porres Bargain Basket on the corner of College and Bartlett streets is celebrating spring with a spring clearance sale. Many items are at 50 percent off the original price.

We are accepting items that are in good condition that you may no longer use, such as bed linens, towels, pots and pans, small appliances, sets of dishes, furniture, jewelry and lamps. You may bring your items to St. Martin’s at the above address any Monday, Wednesday or Friday between 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

All of the proceeds from sale of items are donated to the St. Martin de Porres residence. The staff of volunteers at the Bargain Basket Thrift Shop give generously of their time.

Thank you for your continued support to help men and women who are in need of assistance. For more information, you may call at 786-4690 and ask for the Bargain Basket. — Constance Lecompte, volunteer

DEAR SUN SPOTS: Does anyone know where the movie “Atlas Shrugged” is being played? It is based on the book by Ayn Rand. Is there a DVD available? — Sheila Patrick, 783-9747

ANSWER: Sun Spots went to www.mainetoday.com/movies.html, which covers most, if not all, of the theatres in the state. It allows you to search by theatre or movie. “Atlas Shrugged” didn’t show up, but it only recently opened, so perhaps it will come to town later. Generally movies aren’t released on DVD until after they have completed their theater run.

DEAR SUN SPOTS: I read your column daily and the help you give to others. I thought perhaps you or the readers could help me. I’m looking for a repairman who will repair table lamps. The three-way switch needs to be replaced. Thank you. — Shirley, Lewiston

ANSWER: Sun Spots has two options to hand, plus whatever readers might come up with. Cliff’s Appliance Repair, 376-5604, offers service in your home in the Lewiston-Auburn area. Another option is Dale Honaberger at the Lamp & Shade Shop, 209 Main St. in Bridgton, 647-5576, lampshades@localnet.com.

DEAR SUN SPOTS: In response to the May 10 letter about carpet cleaning, we at Arbe’s Carpet and Tile clean carpets with a commercial rinse and vac shampooer. It is one of the best machines on the market. We have been in the carpet business for 45 years. (My father was Arbe Labonte.) We move all furniture and give free estimates 24 hours a day. Thank you for mentioning us. — Larry Labonte, 412 Waldo St., Rumford, 364-8871

DEAR SUN SPOTS: The Knights of Columbus are hosting an indoor yard sale in their hall at 148 Main St. in Jay on May 28 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. All proceeds continue to strengthen our communities through our charities. If you enjoy searching for that treasure or a great deal, then we’ll see you there. For more information, please call Tom at 897-9509 or Bob at 897-7108. — Bob via email

DEAR SUN SPOTS: In your May 9 column, L.G. from Lewiston asked about where they could find Deep River Chips. Federal Distributors carries them and distributes to smaller delis and stores throughout the L-A area. The chain stores have not authorized them, but some independent accounts are carrying them. — Dennis Belanger, vice president of sales and marketing, dbelanger@federaldistributors.com
