Danville Grange

DANVILLE — Members of Danville Junction Grange will meet at the hall at 7 p.m. Thursday, May 26. A memorial program will be presented by the chaplain. Refreshments will be served at the close of the meeting. All members and guests are welcome.

Film screening

LEWISTON — The public is invited to a free screening of “The Rehearsal” at noon Friday, May 27, at the Lewiston Public Library.

This short documentary film by local filmmaker Craig Saddlemire follows consumer performers through rehearsals leading up to the night of the 2010 Inspired Voices benefit concert. The film features Tatiana, Gwen, Charlie, Elaine, Melinda and others who took part in the 2010 performance.

Donations to benefit mental health services are gratefully accepted at the door. Inspired Voices is a benefit concert and art exhibit hosted by Tri-County Mental Health Services each year in June. The 2011 Inspired Voices event is scheduled for June 25.

LEWISTON — The Lewiston-Auburn Social Bridge Club winners at the Multi-Purpose Center on May 23 are as follows.

1st in A and B: Della Starbird and Eileen Potvin, 2nd in A and B: Nancy Farmer and Hazel Glazier, 3rd in A, B and C: Ellie and Lindy Wigton, 4th: Lue Bilodeau and Luke Merry, 2nd in C: Cynthia and Bill Clifford.

Games are played at 9 a.m. every Monday and Tuesday and at 6:30 p.m. every Wednesday at Schooner Estates in Auburn. Call Rosemarie Goodwin at 754-1431 for information about all duplicate bridge games.

There will be no game Memorial Day, May 30.

Seniors meeting

SABATTUS — Sabattus Seniors will hold a meal and meeting Thursday, June 2, at Maxwell Hall. Doors will open at 11 a.m. Menu includes roast pork with brown potatoes and green bean casserole.

The meal will be followed by the monthly meeting, then bingo. To sign up or for more information, call Doris at 784-7950.

There will be no meal or meeting in July. Relay For Life

AUBURN — American Cancer Society and the community members of Androscoggin County will hold Relay For Life of Androscoggin County from 11 a.m. June 11 through 7 a.m. June 12 at the Edward Little High School track.

The Survivor Celebration will be from 11 a.m. to noon. Relay starts at 12:30 p.m. with the survivor/caregiver lap.

The theme this year is Dance Away Cancer. Fundraiser activities such as a cakewalk, delicious food, drawings and the Relay For Life Store will raise money to help support cancer patients and fund research, in addition to money raised by the many participating teams.

There will be many activities and demonstrations throughout the 18-hour event including children’s activities, zumba sessions, belly dancing and karate and self-defense demos and lessons. The community is invited and encouraged to stop by and check out all the activities.

Luminaria to remember cancer patients will be available for a purchase with the luminaria ceremony scheduled for 9:30 p.m. Saturday night.

60th reunion

GREENE — The Lewiston High School class of 1951 will hold their 60th reunion Aug. 13 at the Sedgley Place. A social hour will be at 11 a.m. and dinner will be served at noon.

The planning committee met at the home of Jackie Leclair to finalize the mailing list. Anyone not receiving an invitation is asked to contact Jackie at 784-4384.

Committee members are Jackie Leclair, Pauline O’Connell, Jeanne Pacheco, Bruce Pinette, Francis Drake and Larry Fox.
