BANGOR, Maine (AP) — A 32-year-old man is being held after allegedly robbing a bank in Bangor and making his getaway in a taxi.

Bangor police say Thaddeus McDonald of Augusta was charged Wednesday with robbery and probation violation.

Police say McDonald robbed a downtown Penobscot County Federal Credit Union shortly after noon Wednesday and was spotted getting into a nearby taxi after leaving the bank.

A few minutes later, police stopped the taxi going south on Interstate 95 and arrested him.
