Justice Dailey, 7, walks outside to play a game of hoop-rolling at West Auburn School on Thursday. Dailey and his second-grade classmates from Oxford Elementary School visited the one-room schoolhouse during a field trip. Donna Berry of Minot, a board member with the West Auburn School Historical Society, gave students penmanship lessons with ink and quill pens and a history lesson on how the school operated back in 1843 when the schoolhouse opened. Twenty-five children from Lisa Stevens’ Oxford classroom wore period clothing and brought their lunches in pails or baskets.
