DEAR SUN SPOTS: I am looking for a Christmas tree topper that my mother had when I was a little girl in the late 1960s. It was a gold star with the center cut out for what I call an upside-down cup made of plastic, I believe. It was multi-colored, and there was a bulb inside the upside-down cup. As the light bulb warmed up, the cup would turn, illuminating different colors on the ceiling. — No Name, Lewiston
ANSWER: Sun Spots has never seen such a decoration. Hopefully, a reader has and will share.
DEAR SUN SPOTS: I would like to have a song from the 1940s. I can’t remember all the words. The song is “It All Depends on You.” Thank you. — Patricia Ponte, Lewiston
ANSWER: Sun Spots found these lyrics at www.sing365.com:
Lovers depend on moonlight for a love affair
Babies depend on mothers for their tender care
Flowers depend on sunshine, and the morning dew
Each thing depends on something, and I depend on you
I can be happy, I can be sad
I can be good, I can be bad
It all depends on you
I can be lonely out in a crowd
I can be humble, I can be proud
It all depends on you
I can save money, or spend it
Go right on living, or end it
You’re to blame, baby, for what I do
I know that I can be beggar, I can be king
I can be almost any old thing
It all depends on you
Isn’t it sweet to know, dear, you can help me on?
Wouldn’t it hurt, to know, dear, all my hopes were gone?
Wouldn’t it make you proud, dear, if I made a name?
But if I failed to win, dear, would you want all the blame?
Several popular singers of the day sang this song, including Frank Sinatra and Doris Day. There are numerous places to listen to it and buy it online, but Sun Spots noted that your letter is handwritten and suspects you do not have a computer.

DEAR SUN SPOTS: In reply to G. Nadeau’s request for religious 45 records, I wanted to remind your readers that the Franco American Collection at USM LAC boasts an unusually large (for this era) collection of vinyl records, many of which are French religious albums.
These include, for example, music by Les Petits Chanteurs de Lewiston, Les Chants de la Première Communion and records produced by La Bonne Chanson. Unfortunately, the collection’s policy is not to loan out material, but anyone is welcome to come and list to our music during our regular opening hours, Monday through Thursday 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. For more information, please contact the collection at 753-6545 or [email protected]. — James Myall, coordinator
