LEWISTON — Dave Henderson is new to the elevator business, and businesses have elevators.

“We’re trying to find different venues to introduce ourselves,” said Henderson, a principal at Exo-Elevator of Litchfield.

He’ll have a booth for the first time at the 16th annual Androscoggin Business to Business Trade Show on June 9 at the Androscoggin Bank Colisee. Organizers are expecting about 200 exhibitors and 2,500 people.

“Should the weather not cooperate, we expect that number to go through the roof,” said Calvin Rinck, marketing director at the Lewiston-Auburn Economic Growth Council.

The trade show runs from 9:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. This year’s theme: “Destination: Innovation!” As always, entry is free; just leave a business card at the door.

Michael Austermeier from Lufthansa Technic, the company restoring Starliner Superstar aircraft at the Auburn-Lewiston Municipal Airport, is the keynote speaker for the Androscoggin County Chamber of Commerce breakfast that morning at the Bates College Commons.  A joint chamber and LAEGC event, a Business After Hours social starts at 4:30 p.m. at the Colisee.

In addition to show floor, the trade show will temporarily turn the Shipyard Lounge into a CyberCafe with free WiFi and tech support and a Business Oasis with free massages.

Rinck said Tuesday that a handful of booth spaces remained. He expected to sell out before the end of the week. The event is billed as the longest-running yearly business trade show in Maine, as well as having the largest one-day turnout.

Richard Grant, director of career services at Thomas College in Waterville, plans to exhibit for the first time after participating in the past as an attendee. He wants to sell local businesses on hiring his students.

“We’ll see how it works,” he said. “We’re promoting our students and promoting our (internship) program.”
