ABERMARLE, N.C. — Lester Allen “Buzzy” Gurney died May 30, in Abermarle, N.C.

He was born Sept. 10, 1942, in Hartford, son of the late Lester Francis Gurney and Vera May Draper Gurney. He served in the U.S. Army in Vietnam.

He is survived by son, Wayne Gurney of Abermarle, N.C.; daughters, Wanda Breton and husband, Scott, of Lewiston and Wendy Record and husband, Jeffery, of Leeds; sister, Shirley Ann Gurney Heath and her husband, Elroy Heath, of Deltona, Fla.; brother-in-law, Claude “Moose” Berry of Hartford; and seven grandchildren.

He was predeceased by a sister, Edith May Gurney Berry; and his wife, Madiline.
