LEWISTON — A Lewiston woman was arrested and charged with felony drug trafficking following a traffic stop.

Police stopped the vehicle driven by Brandy Carter, 27, of 178 Bartlett St. shortly before midnight on Tuesday. Believing she was carrying illegal drugs, police searched the vehicle and found more than four ounces of crack cocaine along with other evidence of drug trafficking. Police dogs helped with the arrest, according to a written release.

Carter was charged Wednesday with trafficking in Schedule W drugs, a Class A crime, punishable by up to 30 years in prison.

She was being held at Androscoggin County Jail Thursday morning in lieu of $10,000 cash bail.
