LEWISTON — The St. Mary’s Nutrition Center and the Lewiston farmers market have announced the grand opening of a new farmers market from 10:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Bates Mill No. 5 on Sunday, June 19.

The market will be in the city parking lot next to the mill building and in the adjacent parking garage on Lincoln Street. It will meet every Sunday until October.

Much like the Lewiston winter market, there will be many vendors — 16, so far — selling Maine-made and Maine-grown products and ready-to-eat food. The market also will offer easy-access parking, live music and fun things for the whole family, thanks to a partnering with local arts and music agencies and individuals.

For opening day, L/A Arts will sponsor a booth where market-goers and their children can make creative gifts for Father’s Day. There will also be live music and a place for customers to sit and listen while enjoying some of the delicious market food.

For more information, contact [email protected] or call 207-513-3848. Two additional “stop and shop” markets will run for the 2011 season in Lewiston: the farmers market at Kennedy Park from 2 to 4:30 p.m. Tuesdays and the farmers market at St. Mary’s from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Wednesdays at the corner of Lafayette and Sabattus streets. All markets will begin the second-to-last week in June and run through the beginning of October.
