AUBURN — Theresa G. Paul, 88, of Lisbon, died May 30, at Clover Manor Health Care Facility, after a period of failing heath, with her family by her side.

She was born in Auburn, Jan. 29, 1923, the daughter of the late Lewis B. and Georgia R. (Douglass) Bowie. She attended schools in Auburn and graduated from Lewiston High School, Class of 1941.

For many years, she was employed in the merchandising department for W. T. Grants and Woolworths. She later became the cosmetic specialist and consultant for B. Peck Co. In the late 1940s, she and her husband operated Paul’s Hardware Store in Lisbon.

Theresa was a Girl Scout leader and was active in the Head Start Program for young children. Theresa was an active member of the Androscoggin Valley Art Association and was the food coordinator for 13 years. She was well-known for her paintings, her artistic ability, creating special jewelry and crafts. Theresa will be remembered for her generosity, giving her crafts to friends. She loved all natures’ beauty, the ocean and looked forward to the autumn season when she traveled through New England with her camera.

Theresa was a member of the United Methodist Church of Lisbon and the Ladies Evening Circle. She was a resident of Lisbon for 40 years. In 1988 she and her husband moved to their retirement home in Cundy’s Harbor, where they enjoyed all the pleasure of living by the sea. A special day to Theresa was the family gatherings.

They wintered in the South many years and had a great commitment to her many friends there. In 2001, she and her husband were honored when chosen royalty of Sleepy Hollow Park. In 2003, she was chosen Sweetheart of the Park.

Theresa was a devoted mother, grandmother and her great-granddaughter was very special in her life. Her many passions were surpassed only by the love of her family, friends, her country and God. Theresa’s living presence will be forever missed but always remembered.

She is survived by her loving husband of 66 years, Frank P. Paul; one daughter, Jeanne and her husband, Walter Plummer; one granddaughter, Lorri and her husband, Michael Bosse; one great-granddaughter, Jessy Bosse, her pride and joy; Theresa will also be missed by her many, many friends.
