LEWISTON — Elite Auto defeated United Ambulance 5-2, to even the season series in an Elliot Ave. Little League major division baseball contest.

Elite fell behind early against United’s ace, Luc Dostie, but rallied back to tie the score at 2-2. The game was extended an extra two innings, and Elite scored three runs in its half of the eighth inning on a handful of walks and several wild pitches, combined with aggressive base running.

Evan Cox had a strong start for Elite, giving up just two runs before earning no decision. Gage Cote was unhittable in relief, amassing 13 strikeouts combined with four by Cox.

Dostie helped United at the plate with two hits and a run scored. Logan Freve had two hits to lead Elite, with one each by Ben Gosselin, Brock Belanger and Jared Rubin.

Earlier in the week, Elite defeated Anthoine Financial, 15-9, as the Elite bats came alive with 14 hits against the division leader.

Anthoine scored two quick runs in the first on hits by Owen McCarthy and Hayden Dumont. Elite answered right back with three runs in the first, one in the second and four in the third. Anthoine tied the game in the fourth with six runs, five unearned, as Elite committed four errors in the inning. Elite responded with five runs in its half of the fourth inning and two in the fifth.

Jalen Allison earned the win in relief. Anthoine was paced offensively with hits by Derek Foy, Sean Lake, Jordan Dumont and multiple hits by Hayden Dumont, Kaleb Morrissette and McCarthy. Elite was led by Trevor Trudell’s first two hits of his first major division season, along with hits by Gage Cote, Evan Cox, Brock Belanger, Logan Freve, Jared Rubin, Allison and Ben Gosselin’s first career hit. Cote, Cox and Belanger each scored three times for Elite.

AK Softball

TURNER — The Leeds 12-and-under softball team opened its season with a 14-9 win over the Turner Patriots.

For Leeds, winning pitcher Abby Robertson had 10 strikeouts. Top hitters for Leeds were Cassidy Bunker and Ashley Black two hits each and Tessa Benson cracked a two-run double. Kaitlyn DeBlois had 12 strikeouts for the Patriots.
